Greasy Kid Stuff; Chicken Hearted Women; Charlie's Old Highway 51 Blues; Say What You Mean, Baby; I Don't Care Who Knows; It's Hot In Here; Devil's Foot; Low Down Woman; Hold Me Tenderly; Marion's Mood; Rich Man's Woman On A Poor Man's Pay; Gratitude Is Riches and Complaint Is Poverty; Ain't Gonna Holler; That's What She Hollered; Country Woman; Mean Ol' Lonesome Train; Harmonica Hangover
Kid Ramos on guitar & vocals, Tom Mann on piano, Jeff Turmes on bass, rhythm guitar, and saxes, and Richard Innes on drums. Not your basic four-piece band. Each and every one a stellar example of musicianship. To top it off, Ramos brought in a few of his buddies to help out with this release. But, get this, they're all harmonica players.
You've probably heard of some of these guys. Paul deLay, Johnny Dyer, Rick Estrin, James Harman, Charlie Musselwhite, Rod Piazza, and Lynwood Slim. Each one a great artist. Each one adding their own style to this.
David "Kid" Ramos spent seven years as a member of the James Harman Band, and in 1995 he joined the Fabulous Thunderbirds. His 1999 solo release, the self-titled "Kid Ramos" garnered three W.C. Handy nominations, while his 2000 release "West Coast House Party" picked up two more. I can't wait to see what this album of "greasy blues" will do!
Take the Kids' tasty licks throughout, add to it the finest harmonica players in the world, make it blues, and you've got a winner!
